Welcome to this week’s edition of Andy’s Corner. The 2015-2016 winter sports started their real practices on Monday, November 16, as next week I will start previewing the teams from the winter. The 2015 fall Nazareth Blue Eagles Sports Season came to a close on Friday, November 13 with the Varsity Football Team in the first round of the District XI Tournament. The Varsity Football Team ended the regular season 5-5 but still made the tournament as the number eight seed. The Varsity Football Team got two big buses together and headed up to Wilkes Barre in an hour and five minutes to play Wymoming Valley West. The Spartans are the number one team in the District XI Tournament. The Blue Eagles had a very good first half and were up on top at halftime with a score of 14-10. Wymoming Valley West scored 41 in the second half to beat Nazareth 51-34, ending Nazareth’s 2015 season with a 5-6 record. Records set are as follows: Dotson Career Receptions 125. In football news, Travis Stefanik is the first quarterback in school history to throw for over 2000 yards and rush for over 1000 yards in the same season (2346 and 1071), also an odd record of the year. Opponents returned a total of seven punts this year for (-7) yards with a long of three yards. It was a great season for the varsity football team and you can count on seeing the Blue Eagles back and strong next fall. Stay tuned next week for winter sports previews.
