Mayor Fred C. Daugherty Jr. resigns post as Nazareth Mayor

Fred C. Daugherty Jr. has resigned as Mayor of Nazareth effective April 15, according to a press release issued by Council President Daniel R. Chiavaroli.

Chiavaroli said in his release, “The Council and I have worked with Mayor Daugherty very hard over the last 3+ years dealing with the Nazareth Borough Police Department and its difficulties.”

He went on to say, “The Mayor’s resignation now requires us to look in a different direction and we will accept résumés from any registered elector of the Borough of Nazareth at the Borough Office until May 2, 2013. Council will then consider its options to fill the vacancy and hopefully act at the May 6, 2013, regular meeting.”
