“When Speaking Has Ceased” is the theme when St. John’s United Church of Christ, 183 S. Broad St., Nazareth presents its Annual St. John’s Sacred Voices Concert on Sunday, September 28, at 4:00 p.m. Featured in the concert is English composer John Rutter’s “Te Deum”, accompanied by brass ensemble and timpani. Smaller masterworks by M. Thomas Cousins, Elizabeth Alexander, Craig Courtney, Mark Hayes and Dan Forrest round out the choral program. For a special musical treat the brass ensemble will perform “Doppelfuge” composed by J.G. Albrechtsberger and arranged by Ralph Brodt, III. St. John’s magnificent combination pipe and digital organ will be featured as Susan L. Frickert, Director of Music performs J. S Bach’s brilliant Prelude and Fugue in E Flat, a.k.a. the “St. Anne.” Frickert has served St. John’s since 1999, and in 2002 founded St. John’s Sacred Voices to provide an opportunity for singers in Nazareth and surrounding counties to learn great sacred music during the summer months, culminating in a September concert. Tickets are available through the church office 610-759-0893 or at the door the afternoon of the concert. For more information check out the church website: www.sjuccnaz.org.
