The 2014-2015 Nazareth High School winter sports season has officially started. On Friday, Dec. 5, the boys basketball team went over to the Catasaqua Rough Riders and won 68-61. The Nazareth girls basketball team hopped on the bus and went down to the Haverford High School on Dec. 5 for a two-day tournament to kick off the season as they played West Chester East and won 69-22 in the opening round. On Saturday, Dec. 6, the boys basketball team played on the road again when they went up to Pleasant Valley High School and won 61-47 to start their season 2-0. In that tournament, Kassie Behler got All Tournament Team and Taylor Umar MVP in the Haverford Tournament, as the girls are 2-0. The Nazareth wrestling team started their year on Dec. 6 with their very own Invitational Tournament at home and came out in first place. On Sunday, Dec. 7, the girls basketball team went back down to Haverford for the second round of that tournament and this time, they played Exeter and won 50-17 to also start the season 2-0. On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the wrestling team will have a meet at Pocono Mountain West at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Dec.13. They will have two meets on the same day as they visit Emmaus at 12:30 p.m. and then get on the bus and head back home for only two hours before they head to Shawnee Middle School for a 7 p.m. meet with Easton. The girls basketball team will go to Stroudsburg at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 before playing their first home game of the season vs. East Stroudsburg North at 7 p.m. The boys basketball team will have their first home game on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. vs. Stroudsburg.
